Exchange Fund Totals US$157.44 Billion
February 28, 2007 - Assets of the Hong Kong Exchange Fund totaled US$157.44 billion (HK$1,228.1 billion) on January 31, 2007. This is US$6.58 billion (HK$51.4 billion) higher than at end-December, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).

New Security Measures for Cabin Baggage to be Implemented at Hong Kong International Airport
February 27, 2007 - Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department will impose new security measures for screening liquids, gels and aerosols in cabin baggage for all departing flights from the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) from March 21. The new measures are being implemented to comply with the new guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Hong Kong's overall consumer prices rose 2.0% in January 2007 over a year earlier, smaller than the 2.3% increase in December 2006, according to the Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) statistics released today by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG).

Law to Curb VOCs - a major cause of smog in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today published in the Gazette legislation to control the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), a major category of pollutants responsible for smog that reduces Hong Kong's visibility. The legislation will come into force in phases starting from April 1 this year.
