Financial Results for the First Three Months of 2007-2008 Financial Year

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) had expenditures of US$6.93 billion (HK$54.1 billion) and revenue of US$7.55 billion (HK$58.9 billion) in the three months ending June 30, resulting in a surplus of US$615.38 million (HK$4.8 billion).
Land Auction Yields US$510.25 Million
July 31, 2007 -
A plot of government land in Wong Tai Sin was sold for US$510.25 million (HK$3.98 billion) by the Lands Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today. This is the fourth land auction of the 2007-08 financial year.
International Horses Arrive for Good Luck Beijing Equestrian Events

Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Half-Year Financial Results for 2007

The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) and its subsidiaries (the HKMC Group) announced today the half-year financial results for 2007. The unaudited profit after tax (PAT) for the six months ended 30 June 2007 (1H 2007) was US$52.72 million (HK$411.2 million), 27% over the first six months in 2006 (1H 2006).
Hong Kong Exchange Fund Totals US$161.14 Billion

Assets of the Hong Kong Exchange Fund totaled US$161.14 billion (HK$1,256.9 billion) on June 30, 2007. This is US$1.88 billion (HK$14.7 billion) higher than at the end of May 2007, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
Half-Year Exchange Fund Results 2007

S&P’s Decision to Upgrade Hong Kong’s Ratings Outlook Welcomed

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today welcomed Standard & Poor’s (S&P’s) decision to upgrade Hong Kong’s ratings outlook to “Positive” from “Stable”. The agency also affirmed Hong Kong’s credit ratings at “AA”.

Hong Kong's Consumer Price Index up 1.3% in June

Hong Kong's overall consumer prices rose 1.3% in June 2007 over a year earlier, according to the Composite Price Index (CPI) statistics released today by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG). This is larger than the 1.2% increase in May.
Hong Kong’s Unemployment Rate Fell to 4.2%

Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to a provisional 4.2% in April – June 2007, from 4.3% in the previous three-month period, according to the latest labor force statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department.

The China Development Bank (CDB) announced today the subscription result of the first issue of renminbi bonds in Hong Kong, reflecting strong response from both retail and institutional investors with an oversubscription rate of nearly two times.
