Hong Kong Monetary Authority to Provide Liquidity Assistance to Licensed Banks in Hong Kong
September 30, 2008
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today five temporary measures for providing liquidity assistance to licensed banks in Hong Kong. With effect from Thursday (October 2) for a period of six months until the end of March 2009, the HKMA will provide liquidity assistance, on request from licensed banks, through the following five measures:

Hong Kong Government to Finance Development of New Cruise Terminal

Hong Kong Exchange Fund Totals US$179.98 Billion
September 26, 2008 – Assets of the Hong Kong Exchange Fund amounted to US$179.98 billion (HK$1,403.9 billion) on August 31. This is US$333.33 million (HK$2.6 billion) lower than at the end of July 2008, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG), the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Provincial Government of Guangdong today jointly organized a forum to announce details and implementation arrangements for services liberalization measures under Supplement V to CEPA as well as the measures to start in Guangdong on a pilot basis.
Hong Kong’s Unemployment Rate Remains at 3.2%

Hong Kong’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at a provisional 3.2% for the period June – August 2008. This is the same as that in May – July 2008, according to latest labor force statistics released today by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG).
