SPOTLIGHT ON HONG KONG CINEMA, ASIAN POP-UP CINEMA
The 20th edition of Chicago’s Asian Pop-up Cinema (Mar 20 – Apr 12, 2026), proudly supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York, returns with a compelling lineup of seven outstanding Hong Kong films.
This year’s festival opens with the North American premiere of the sports comedy “Pass and Goal”, directed by Jil Wong. This heartfelt underdog story follows a determined youth football team fighting for redemption and stars acclaimed actress Gigi Leung, who will attend Opening Night and be honoured with this year’s Extraordinary Actors Award. Both Jil Wong and Gigi Leung will introduce the film and take part in a post-screening Q&A session. Additional festival guests from Hong Kong include directors Dickson Leung and Nic Ho, along with producer Ivana Lai.
