February 22, 2018 - Addressing a spring reception in New York on February 22, the Hong Kong Commissioner to the United States (US), Mr Clement Leung, said that Hong Kong-US bilateral trade relations remain strong and are expected to strengthen further in 2018. US exports to the city expanded by 13 per cent last year, totaling over US$40 billion worth of goods and making Hong Kong the ninth largest market for US exporters.

Unemployment rate remains at 2.9%
February 22, 2018 - According to the latest labor force statistics (i.e. provisional figures for November 2017 - January 2018) released today by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 2.9% in November 2017 - January 2018, same as that in October - December 2017. The underemployment rate decreased from 1.1% in October - December 2017 to 1.0% in November 2017 - January 2018.

Consumer Price Indices for January 2018
February 22, 2018 - The Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government released today the Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures for January 2018. According to the Composite CPI, overall consumer prices rose by 1.7% in January 2018 over the same month a year earlier, remaining virtually unchanged as compared to December 2017. Netting out the effects of all Government's one-off relief measures, the year-on-year rate of increase in the Composite CPI (i.e. the underlying inflation rate) in January 2018 also remained virtually unchanged at 1.7% as compared to December 2017.
