London-based architecture and interior design firm set up new base in Hong Kong to expand into Asia and Mainland China
August 20, 2019 - London-based architecture and interior design firm, Design Haus Liberty (DH Liberty), announced today that it has opened its global office in Hong Kong to realize opportunities in the growing Asia-Pacific and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area markets.

Unemployment edged up to 2.9%
August 19, 2019 - According to the latest labor force statistics (i.e. provisional figures for May - July 2019) released today by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 2.8% in April - June 2019 to 2.9% in May - July 2019. The underemployment rate remained unchanged at 1.0% in the two periods.

Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant chain opens first Hong Kong outlet
August 13, 2019 - Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant chain Sushiro opened its first Hong Kong outlet today, taking a foothold in the local market and aiming to extend its brand to the region by leveraging the city’s international status.

Adjustment of the Base Rate
August 1, 2019 - The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today that the Base Rate was adjusted downward by 25 basis points to 2.50% with immediate effect according to a pre-set formula. The decrease in the Base Rate follows the 25-basis point downward shift in the target range for the US federal funds rate on July 31 (US time).

Provisional statistics of retail sales for June 2019
August 1, 2019 - The Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government released the latest figures on retail sales today.
