Hong Kong Museum of Art to reopen in November
March 29, 2019 - After major expansion and renovation, the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) will be reopening in November this year. The Museum Director of the HKMoA, Miss Eve Tam, and Senior Architect of the Architectural Services Department (ArchSD) Miss Vivien Fung briefed the media on the architectural features of the renovated museum.

Financial results for the 11 months ended February 28, 2019
March 29, 2019 - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced today its financial results for the 11 months ended February 28, 2019.

Hong Kong Exchange Fund at US$534 billion
March 29, 2019 - The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today that the total assets of the Exchange Fund amounted to HK$4,165.4 billion (US$534 billion) as at February 28, 2019. This is HK$16.2 billion (US$2.0 billion) lower than that at the end of January 2019. Foreign currency assets decreased by HK$1.7 billion (US$217.9 million) and Hong Kong dollar assets decreased by HK$14.5 billion (US$1.8 billion).

HKETONY promotes Hong Kong films in Chicago
March 26, 2019 - The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY) is partnering with Asian Pop-Up Cinema (APUC) again to promote Hong Kong cinema and showcase film talents in Chicago. APUC today presented a Career Achievement Award to veteran Hong Kong actress Nina Paw.

Unemployment rate stood at 2.8%
March 19, 2019 - According to the latest labor force statistics (i.e. provisional figures for December 2018 - February 2019) released today by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 2.8% in December 2018 - February 2019, same as that in November 2018 - January 2019. The underemployment rate decreased from 1.1% in November 2018 - January 2019 to 1.0% in December 2018 - February 2019.

Chief Executive meets members of Congressional US-China Working Group
March 18, 2019 - Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, accompanied by the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan, met with the visiting Co-Chairs of the Congressional US-China Working Group (USCWG), Mr Rick Larsen and Mr Darin LaHood, and four members of the USCWG this morning. The President of the National Committee on US-China Relations, Mr Stephen Orlins, and the Consul General of the United States to Hong Kong and Macau, Mr Kurt Tong, also attended the meeting.

Response to United States Department of State’s report on human rights
March 14, 2019 - In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government today made the following response to the comments contained in the United States Department of State’s Country Reports on Human Rights Practices 2018 relating to the HKSAR.

Government welcomes EU’s removal of Hong Kong from watchlist on tax co-operation
March 13, 2019 - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today (March 13) welcomed the decision of the European Union (EU) to remove Hong Kong from its watchlist on tax co-operation in recognition of the efforts made by Hong Kong on the international tax co-operation front.

Hong Kong’s foreign currency reserves at US$434.5 billion
March 7, 2019 - The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$434.5 billion as at the end of February 2019, compared with US$432.1 billion at end-January 2019.

Government appoints directors to HKEX Board
March 6, 2019 - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has appointed Ms Mary Ma Xuezheng and re-appointed Ms Anita Fung Yuen-mei, Mr Rafael Gil-Tienda and Mr Stephen Yiu Kin-wah as members of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) for a term of around two years from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the HKEX in 2019 until the conclusion of the AGM of the HKEX in 2021.

Statistics on vessels, port cargo and containers for fourth quarter of 2018
March 5, 2019 - The Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today released the statistics on vessels, port cargo and containers for the fourth quarter of 2018.

Chief Executive welcomes Central Government’s promulgation of eight policy measures for taking forward development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
March 1, 2019 - Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today welcomed the eight policy measures introduced by the Central Government for taking forward the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. She said such measures could facilitate Hong Kong residents to develop, work and reside in the Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area, as well as strengthen the convenient flow of people and goods within the Greater Bay Area.

Government announces appointment of Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board
March 1, 2019 - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today announced the appointment of Dr Pang Yiu-kai to succeed Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok as Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) for three years from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2022.

Government announces appointment of Chairman of Hong Kong Trade Development Council
March 1, 2019 - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today announced the appointment of Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok to succeed Dr Vincent Lo Hong-sui as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for two years from June 1, 2019, to May 31, 2021.
