October 9, 2019 - The World Economic Forum (WEF) has ranked Hong Kong as the third most competitive economy in the world, up four places from last year. Hong Kong’s overall score rose 0.8 points from 2018 in the WEF’s Global Competitiveness Index 2019 which ranks 141 economies.

Among the 12 categories of assessment, Hong Kong was ranked top in macroeconomic stability, health, financial system and product market, and third in infrastructure and information and communication technology adoption.

The Hong Kong government welcomed the publication of the report and reiterated its commitment to enhancing the competitiveness and vibrancy of the economy, as well as maintaining its core strengths of the rule of law and an independent judiciary.
