September 7, 2020 - The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$450 billion as at the end of August 2020, unchanged from end-July’s figure.

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of August 2020 amounted to US$449.9 billion, also unchanged from the figure at end-July 2020.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$450 billion represent over six times the currency in circulation or about 44 per cent of Hong Kong dollar M3.
